Tour Itineraries

Day 1 - Arrival - Arusha

On arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be met by your private guide and you will be transferred by road to the nearby town of Arusha just over an hour away to overnight. ‘The African Tulip Hotel’ is a lovely and cozy facility located in a very calm suburb of the town. Once at the hotel you will freshen up, have dinner and then relax for the rest of the evening settling in to your en suite room and then overnight.

Day 2 - Arusha - Tarangire National Park

You will be picked up early this morning and your private safari guide will be armed with some delicious packed lunches. You will then travel out of the town of Arusha and then through the scenic Maasai Steppe area as you drive to Tarangire National Park which is located about 90 minutes. This is Tanzania's sixth largest national park and it is unique and famous for its huge numbers of Elephants herds, ancient and magnificent Baobab trees and tree climbing African pythons and countless number of different and beautiful birds’ species. You will enjoy a full day game drive in the park and a picnic lunch in one of the available picnic sites before driving out and head to a private concession that lies between Tarangire and Lake Manyara National Parks to overnight at ‘Maramboi Tented Lodge’. You will arrive at the permanent tented lodge early that evening and after checking in, you will then have a guided walk ending at the beautiful lake shore and this will enable you to stretch your legs and enjoy the amazing nature found in the area. Built to blend in with the vastness of its surroundings, the permanent tented lodge lies hidden among the palm trees, ancient baobab and the golden grasses

Day 3 - Tarangire - Lake Manyara National Park

You will check out and depart from the camp after breakfast and drive to the township of Mto wa Mbu located within the Great Rift Valley area. That drive will take about 90 minutes hence you will reach the area late that morning. ‘The people are the country’, Tanzania has 130 different tribes representing all the African ethnic groups and Mto wa Mbu is one of the few areas the country where all the local tribes and cultures are clearly visible. You will be immersed into the local culture of the village through a banana plantation tour and before visiting a local farming family. After tasting various fresh banana products as well as enjoying a delicious local lunch prepared especially for you, a visit to the colourful market will follow. Late that afternoon you will enter the Lake Manyara National Park for a half day game drive. This is a beautiful little reserve surrounding a Rift Valley’s alkaline lake and has a lot of breath-taking views. The landscape is a mixture of dense forest, small open plains and lush waterside grasses, a feast for herbivores such as buffalo, a very scenic home to hippos, elephants, flamingos, plains game and the famous tree-climbing lions that reside here. Then early in the evening you will head out of the park and drive through a number of local villages as you head up to the agricultural town of Karatu located on the Ngorongoro highlands to overnight at ‘Karatu Acacia Lodge’. A wonderful opportunity to sample Tanzania’s rural life setting by staying in a very charming countryside lodge located within an active farm.

Day 4 - Ngorongoro Crater

After early breakfast taking some delicious packed lunches again, you will drive straight to the Ngorongoro Crater where you will have a full day game drive and a picnic lunch. Here you have great chances of seeing the ‘Big 5’ including the endangered Black Rhino. Spend the morning and the afternoon in the crater floor enjoying one of the world’s best natural spectacles. You will have picnic lunch in one of the picnic sites then continue with your game drive exploring this collapsed volcanic crater which is 12 miles in diameter and 2,000 feet deep. The fertile soil and lake attract a huge range of wildlife, and your tour here will seek to uncover them amongst the floor's forests, grasslands and plains. Then depart late in the afternoon heading back to the lodge to continue enjoying the excellent service provided there. On arrival back at the same lodge, you will get a wonderful chance to enjoy the amazing countryside setting up close and personal by exploring on foot an authentic African farmland area if you will wish or just take it easy and laze by the swimming pool or enjoy the gym or the lovely spa located on site.

Day 5 - Ngorongoro Highlands - Serengeti National Park

After a very early breakfast, continue your journey into the heart of Tanzania by heading west, towards the Serengeti Plains. You will re-enter the Ngorongoro Conservation Area as you head to the Serengeti. You will have a stop to visit a Maasai village located en-route. This will be an opportunity that will give you a chance to try and learn about this majestic warriors’ tribe’s unique way of life. This tribe hugely stands out due to the way they have managed to cling to their culture regardless of the changes around them. You will then have another stop to visit the Olduvai Gorge Archaeological Museum, the site of Louis and Mary Leakey’s renowned archaeological discoveries along the way. Their findings include some of the man’s earliest known ancestral remains. As you drive away from Olduvai, you will then visit the ‘Shifting Sands’ area nearby which is an amazing volcanic sand dune phenomenon in the middle of the endless plains After you reach the central part of the Serengeti, you will spend some time in the 'Kopjes' areas searching for the resident big cats that are frequently seen here before heading to your lovely seasonal tented camp nearby to overnight. Located within the central area of the park, ‘Serengeti Kati Kati Camp’ is a simple camp but it is ideally situated to offer sweeping views overlooking the endless plains. The central location provides ideal starting point to visit different parts of the park easily.

Day 6 - Serengeti National Park

After breakfast, enjoy another full day game drive exploring other parts of the central area of this wonderful park enjoying its flora and fauna. This will be another spectacular day with picnic lunch held out in the wild again. Seronera area is a year round destination for wonderful game viewing and a home to literally hundreds of thousands of hoofed animals. The Serengeti eco-system is the oldest on the planet. It boasts a diversity of plants and animals that is unavailable anywhere else on the globe. The Great Migration is the largest overland migration in the world. The animals travel a total of 800 kilometres or more during each cycle whereby approximately over a million Wildebeest and thousands of Zebras and Gazelles form one super herd. You will have an option to depart from the camp very early this morning for a Hot Air Balloon flight over the magnificent Serengeti and you will then enjoy the Champagne breakfast out in the wild on landing. This option could be booked and paid for directly at the camp.

Day 7 - Serengeti Np - Arusha

After having a very early breakfast, you will check out and enjoy en-route game viewing as you drive back east. You will then re-enter Ngorongoro Conservation Area then pass again through the Great Rift and Maasai Steppe areas as you head back to the town of Arusha to be there in the afternoon. This road transfer will take about 7 hours in total due to the distance involved, en-route game sightings and time needed to clear park fees permits at the park gates. You will either proceed with your pre-organized next stage of your trip or you will be transferred back to Kilimanjaro International Airport in time for your flight out.
